Pattern and sewing basics course for beginners

The basics of sewing course for beginners will introduce you to the parts of the entire machine, how to use it, and its simple home maintenance. You will also learn about the basic pattern and how to make it, sew it, and cut it on the fabric.

Tradeco Al Sayad Design Academy will provide you with the sewing machines and tools you will need throughout the course.

Pattern and sewing basics course for beginners

Course duration is 65 hours

Number of portions 13 portions

The duration of the class is 4 to 5 hours, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m

The course is scheduled for Sunday and Tuesday every week

Course content:

  • Training on the machine and how to operate it
  • Training on basic pattern and its terminology
  • Training on drawing a flat pattern in student size
  • Training on drawing the basic quantity with a compass
  • Implementing the basic blouse with the two-piece collar and the jacket
  • Implementing a blouse with a high neck and puffed sleeves
  • Training on drawing the basic pocket pattern and the A-line pocket
  • Implementing the basic pocket with webbing and magic zippers
  • Training on drawing and implementing basic pants using plastic, how to install them, and the magic pocket

Course outcomes:

Implementation is carried out on a velvet fabric or an outdoor fabric, according to the student’s choice

  • The basic elastic pants

Graduation project:

  • Two pieces are made with outer fabric (blouse/trousers) of the student’s choice
